Traditional Indians gyms are becoming few and far between

Chan:
Traditional wrestling gyms in India are facing tough times. More and more young men prefer to pump iron rather than wrestle each other to the ground in loin cloths. Here's more on this growing trend.

It's a routine that could very well disappear. The morning walk to the gym.. and then to the mats.
Traditional wrestling gyms in India are facing a recruitment problem, as many young men are pumping iron in western-style fitness centers.

As Indian cities modernize at break-neck speed to keep pace with people's changing habits - physical fitness centers are on their way out.

Om Prakash - an old school wrestler says young people are looking for different things.

[Om Prakash, Traditional Wrestler]:
"Youngsters nowadays have switched to modern gyms and are growing weaker. They only drink tea and water, and not almond milk and yogurt. As a result they have well-toned bodies. They wear trendy clothes and walkabout in the market. But are weak."

Many urban Indian men are keen to look like their favorite Bollywood stars. And that means bulking up as well.
